We all like a loving, kind, patient and good God. In contrast, God’s anger is something that we try to ignore. Yet, as God is dealing with depraved sinners like us, He cannot be loving and holy without being angry. His wrath will be unleashed once the sins of the world are full.

1. Source of the Wrath of God (Rev 15:5)

The source of God’s wrath is God’s throne room, i.e. God Himself. No one can challenge and go against what God will do. God’s wrath will come, and it cannot be avoided or averted. Everything in this world will be destroyed so that sinful men will turn to God. Just as God’s salvation, grace and holiness come from Him, His wrath will likewise come directly from Him. He knows, He sees, and He will judge.

2. Execution of the Wrath of God (Rev 15:6-7)

The seven angels sent by God will have the seven vial judgments. They will be given the responsibility of pouring out these vial judgments of God. They will be dressed in pure and white linen, which is the garment of the priests; and will be girded with golden girdles, just like the Lord Jesus Christ as described in Revelation 1:13. The attire is described so that the world will see them for who they are. Their attire signifies holiness and how God will judge based on His holy righteousness. They are dressed like Christ so that the world will know that the judgment is anchored in Christ Himself. Not one bit of God’s wrath will be held back when the sins of men are full.

3. Awesome Nature of the Wrath of God (Rev 15:8)

Before the pouring out of the vial judgments, no one (not even the saints in glory) will be allowed to enter into God’s holy presence because of the brightness and grandeur of His glory. Two such similar occasions happened at the dedications of the Tabernacle and the Temple in the Old Testament. This third instance will happen at the very Throne of God. It will be one of great wrath and judgment before Christ will rule in the Millennial Kingdom.

Today, we are living on the threshold of this world ceasing to exist for eternity. We must, therefore, live in light of eternity, and stop focusing on all things temporal. How will you meet your Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who is just a moment away? May we all be ready to meet Him in holiness, faithfulness and righteousness.
