The sins in this world are getting from bad to worse; and will reach a point when they are full. When that time comes, God will intervene and the Lord Jesus Christ will come to judge the world and destroy every sin.

• The place of sin destroyed (Rev 14:14-16)

Wherever man is, sin will also be present in that place. As such, the time will come when the Lord Jesus will descend from heaven to earth as the “Son of man,having on his head a golden crown (Grk: stephanos)” (Rev 14:14), an earned crown. The Lord Jesus had earned His authority to judge this world because He took on flesh and blood to become man so as to die on the cross on our behalf for the remission of our sins. This has given man the hope of salvation from his sins and to be a follower of Christ. However, despite what Christ had done, there are men who choose to live their lives in carnality, loving the pleasures of the world with all its defilement. In addition, there is also an increased number of false teachers who distort Christ and His Word.

And in the hand of the Son of man is a “sharp sickle” (Rev 14:14), and He will “thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped” (Rev 14:16).

This harvesting of the earth signifies the destruction of the place of sin.

• The sinners destroyed (Rev 14:17-20)

After the description of the destruction of the place of sin, Revelation 14:17 says that “another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle…” And He will “thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God” (Rev 14:19). This signifies that God will gather all the sinners and will destroy them because of their sins. Sins are deadly as they can destroy the Christian’s witness and testimony, and can even stumble unbelievers and prevent them from believing in Jesus. Revelation 14:20 gives an indication of the great magnitude of the destruction of sinners.

God will judge this world very soon. As believers of the Lord Jesus, we must not follow after the manner of the sinners of this world. We are to fill our minds with the Word of God and have hearts that will obey His Word and do His will, so that our lives will always be pleasing to Him, and will always glorify Him.
