How to Share Your Life (Eph 6:21-24)
In the concluding verses of the Epistle to the Ephesians, Apostle Paul wrote that he would send Tychicus (Eph 6:21) to the Ephesian Christians to update them about how he was. It showed that Paul was very open and willing to share his life with them. How we share ourselves to others is important because we bear the name of Christ.
Apostle Paul trusted and sent Tychicus to share his life with the Ephesian Christians, to tell them how he had been doing in prison so that they could be encouraged in their faith. People whom we come in contact with will in turn share our lives with others even though we do not share our lives personally with these other people. Therefore, we must always be very careful and conscious of how we conduct our lives because Christ’s name is at stake. And when we are sharing the lives of others to other people, we must be careful not to be gossipers or slanderers, but be selective of what we want to share about others, lest we do the work of the devil. Proverbs 15:1: “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.”
Paul’s purpose of sending Tychicus to share his life with the Ephesian Christians was so that they would know how to pray for Paul and that they might be encouraged and comforted in their hearts. When we interact with one another, we bear our hearts to one another because we trust one another as beloved brethren. Therefore, we must be sincere, truthful and genuine in sharing our lives. We must not be hypocritical and pretend to be somebody we are not. The purpose of sharing our lives with others is that we may build up and edify others in the Lord.
The result of sharing our lives with others is that they will be blessed. The greatest blessing we can give to others is to let them see Christ in us. Paul wanted the Ephesian Christians to be more and more like Christ. May the Lord help us to be a blessing to one another, especially in these last days, as we share our lives and strengthen the faith of others. Let us not shun away from sharing our lives. Let us be a blessing to others. |
