Pastoral Letter 28 Oct 2018

30 Oct 1517 marks the birth of the 16th century Protestant Reformation against the great evil of the Roman Catholic Church. It is a significant movement that ended the 10-century-old Dark Ages. God's infallible and inerrant Word stands forever as it is written, “For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth” (2 Cor 13:8). The Church of God was in spiritual darkness for a millennium until God raised up His servants (eg: Martin Luther, John Calvin and many other reformers) to bring about a revival and freedom from the abused power of the Roman Catholic Church.

The 16th century Reformation might have dispelled the dark ages. But as we look at the Christian world today, it seems that Christianity continues to be as dark as ever spiritually. The movements of ecumenism, charismatism, neo-evangelicalism have caused more confusion in the last century than ever before. The world is not seeing the true light of the gospel of Jesus Christ but false lights that show a different Jesus who is definitely not the Jesus of the Bible.

The Bible has warned us in these last days that there will be a falling away (2 Thess 2:3). And this great apostasy is the falling away of the church. Since God has revealed that apostasy will surely come, who can prevent it? Our responsibility is to ensure that you and I who bear the name of Christ will not be part of that falling away. The only safety net is to return to the perfect Bible which shows us the only truth and light which the devil has been trying very hard to destroy since the beginning.

We thank God for His inspired and preserved Word that has protected and sustained us thus far. Let us be found faithful unto death as we continue to earnestly contend for the faith once delivered unto the saints according to the inspired and preserved Word of God. Amen.

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Dennis Kwok
